Mousehole infrastructure

In the week before the Whitsun Bank Holiday at the end of May 2018, a leak occurred in the waste water pipework underneath the car park next to the Coastguard Hotel in Mousehole.

Post Offices

Currently, ten rural post offices in West Cornwall have either closed or are at risk of closure, including the offices on the Lizard, at Porthleven, Carbis Bay, Leedstown, Heamoor, St Keverne and Newlyn.

Cornish Fishing Industry & Brexit

Fishing remains a vital part of the Cornish economy. More than £30 million of fish is landed every year in Newlyn alone and the total value of the industry, when seafood processing is factored in, is worth almost £100 million to the Cornish economy.

Penzance Heliport 

In October 2012, the old heliport, serving both St Mary’s and Tresco, ceased operations after almost 50 years; operators British International Helicopters cited rising costs and falling passenger numbers for the decision.
