Essential travel does not include holidays

The Government last night issued further advice regarding essential and non-essential travel:

This guidance is for people planning to visit second homes or holiday premises during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Details of Government support for local authorities

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Rt Hon Robert Jenrick, has issued a statement providing explanation and detail of Government support in a number of areas including social care, private renting, rough sleeping and business.

 

£350 billion pledged to support the economy

The Chancellor has announced a massive package of financial measures to support the economy against the coronavirus impact.

It includes £330bn in loans, £20bn in other aid, a business rates holiday, and grants for retailers and pubs. Help for airlines is also being considered.

Britons advised not to travel overseas

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) is now advising British people against all non-essential travel worldwide as from today, 17th March.

The advice takes effect immediately and applies initially for a period of 30 days.
