Wages have traditionally been lower in West Cornwall and on Scilly compared to the English average. Derek welcomes the fact that the gap is closing and has worked to address this by building confidence through better mobile and broadband connectivity, Government funds for small businesses, infrastructure and training provision and cuts in business rates and employment taxes.
