The West Cornwall Hospital League of Friends annual coffee morning, held at the Pirates Rugby Club, was well attended once again on Saturday.
A range of stalls, including homemade cakes, gifts and greetings cards, helped to raise in excess of £3,000 for hospital. Over the years the League of Friends have enabled, through their fundraising, considerable improvements to the hospital and the purchase of medical equipment and furniture to improve patient care.
Derek Thomas MP, who attended the event, said, ‘The Friends do such a fantastic job for the hospital and are currently driving the efforts to build a brand new outpatient centre on the site. This coffee morning raises thousands of pounds each year and always proves to be an enjoyable event.’
The Friends secretary, Mrs Gill Prodger, said, ‘Once again I want to thank all the local businesses and general public for their generosity & support. The money we raise makes such a difference to the staff and patients and it is a privilege to serve the community in this way.’
