As you know we have committed to taking refugees from the camps (in particular vulnerable people).
Cornwall Council are currently looking at how many we can take. Consideration includes homes available, school spaces, potential for health and social care requirements and other ‘social’ support possibly available through the voluntary sector
The understanding is that we may provide for 60 people in Cornwall.
For those of you who feel very strongly that we should do more the council have a facility where you can offer accommodation which has been available for several weeks.
I met with council officers a week ago. At that point 19 People had offered to help in Cornwall. As a nation we continue to contribute more to help the refugees in the camps in the Middle East than pretty much any other nation.
