As we progress towards an in/out EU referendum…
David Cameron told MPs today regarding our relationship with the EU:
There are 4 things we need to achieve:
First – sovereignty and subsidiarity… Britain must not be a part of an ‘ever closer union’ we must achieve a greater role for national parliaments.
Second – EU must add to our competitiveness rather than detracting from it… By signing new trade deals, cutting regulation and completing the single market.
Third – the EU must work for those outside the single currency… And protect the integrity of the Single Market and make sure that we face neither discrimination nor additional costs from the integration of the Eurozone.
Fourth – social security and free movement… We need to tackle abuse of the right to free movement and deliver changes that ensure our welfare system is not an artificial draw for people to come to Britain.
