Thank you for your email regarding the amendments NC6, NC8 and NC29 of the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill.
I want to ensure that foreign workers continue to be welcome from around the world including the EU. The Prime Minister has said that the issue regarding the rights of EU Nationals living in the UK must be resolved as an immediate priority after triggering Article 50. This is set out in the 12 negotiating priorities which I supported last week and continue to support.
If you take a look at labour requirements in West Cornwall and on Scilly today we need foreign workers in fishing, farming, tourism, health and social care. We must do everything we can to retain this labour supply.
Please be aware that any EU Nationals that have lived here for 5 years or more have rights to remain here and after 6 years can apply to be British Citizens.
