Cornwall Council’s priority should be to freeze the Council Tax
Derek Thomas, the prospective Conservative MP for West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, urges Cornwall Council to work harder to find efficiencies, economies and new funding methods before increasing the financial burden on hard working families.
Over the past week many of West Cornwall’s residents will have received their Council tax Bill for 2014/15. Unlike in previous years, where there has been a Council Tax freeze, their bill will have risen by just under 2%. What is worse is that the Council has made a financial planning assumption that it will increase at the same rate every year until 2019.
